Bienvenido a Espana!
After arrival in the capital of Spain there couldn’t be a better place to get accustomed to the city and its people than visiting the Plaza Mayor. It indeed is the “Main Square” in the heart of town. Soaking up the atmosphere by watching the local life go by in one of the many cafes we really arrive in Spain and feel at home. Afterwards we explore the many alleys leading from the Plaza Major into the Old City.
After breakfast we have the whole day to explore Spain’s capital. Amongst the many sites we visit are Plaza España, Puerta Del Sol and the Cibeles Fountain. After some relaxing time in the Retiro Park it’s time for the highlight of our day – a specialized guided tour of the world famous Prado Museum. The museum houses the largest collection of European art in the world, including masterpieces by Velazquez, Goya and Rubens. Later we enjoy free time at the elegant Gran Via with its many shopping opportunities.
Barcelona, here we come
We can’t wait to get to Barcelona, one of the most fascinating cities of this fascinating country. That why we travel by AVE, Spain’s high speed train which get’s us into the capital of Catalonia in just three hours. After check-in into our hotel we have enough time to discover the unique atmosphere of Spain’s most dynamic and cosmopolitan city.
We stroll along the Ramblas one of the most beautiful pedestrian boulevards in the world. Souvenir hawkers, buskers, pavement artists, mimes and living statues are all part of the ever-changing street scene.
From ancient Roman Ruins to modern masterpieces of Gaudí –Barcelona’s architectural treasures span 2000-plus years. We will discover this fascinating mix of old and new by starting our sightseeing tour with two of Barcelona’s most famous architects masterpieces: the famous Park Güell and his still unfinished Basilica Sagrada Familia. Later during the day we discover the other more tranquil site of Barcelona by strolling through the winding alleys of the gothic quarters.
Bonjours, la France!
The romantic fishing village of Cadaques is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the tranquility before we get into France. During our beautiful drive along the Mediterranean coast to Avignon we stop in Montpellier where we take time to visit this multicultural city. Upon arrival in the heart of the Provence we visit the city of Avignon with its massive medieval fortress and papal palace, Palais des Papes.
During our drive from Avignon to Nice we pass some of the most iconic cities of the world famous Cote d’Azur. Our first stop get’s us to Aix en Provence. With its graceful boulevards, picturesque squares and the unique light of Southern France it epitomizes the beauty of the Cote d’Azur. Saint Tropez, the legendary meeting point of the rich and famous is the perfect place for a relaxing lunch brake. In Cannes, home of the famous film festival we stroll along the boulevard La Croisette before we arrive in Nice.
What a beautiful way to start our „Italian days“ by driving along the scenic Lingurian coast. Ingeniously terraced cliff faces on one site, the deep blue sea on the other we stop in romantic fishing villages, getting a first taste of the famous Italian kitchen. In Pisa we visit the world famous leaning tower while in Lucca we explore one of the most romantic cities of Tuscany.
The heart of Tuscany
For many Florence, in the heart of Tuscany and birthplace of Renaissance is the most beautiful city of Italy. Today we get an inside tour into this treasure trove of art with its many world-class sights. We will see San Marco, San Lorenzo, Ponte Vecchio as well as Piazza della Signoria and the town hall Palazio Vecchio. The Batistry and the cathedral are other highlights and we’ll climb the 463 steps up into the dome.
Siena and Rome
On our way to Rome we stop in Siena. With the Duomo, one of Italy’s most impressive churches and the Piazza Il Campo in the city center this is another outstanding example of Italy’s rich cultural heritage. Finally we arrive in Rome, one of the most beautiful capitals in the world.
Let’s start our visit with one of the most popular places – the Colosseum and the Pantheon.
A day in the eternal city
We start our visit to the “eternal city” early with a visit to Campo de Fiori, a lively local flower and vegetable market. Afterwards one of the highlights of every Rome visit: the Vatican with St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel and the incredible frescoes by Michelangelo. After so much art and history we take a rest at a streetside café enjoying a classical Italian pizza and watch the live go by – La dolce vita. Well rested we throw coins in the Trevi Fountain and eat ice cream on the Spanish Steps. On our last night in Rome we dine at a small Trattoria while we let it all sink in.
Transfer to Fiomicino (Rome airport) and enjoy your flight back home.
