Over the last 35 years Thomas Barkemeier has travelled the world. He started as a backpacker exploring every corner between Kathmandu, Bangkok, Bali and Sydney on foot, trains, busses, bicycles, motor bikes and – on camel backs. After finishing university he turned his passion for traveling and writing into a profession by becoming a study tour guide and an award winning travel writer. He has led over 100 study tours in Asia, Europe and North America and is the writer of 12 travel books.

Ulrich Hansen and his son
Ulrich Hansen has lived abroad for the majority of his life. Leaving his home country of Denmark when he was 19, he wanted to explore and experience as much as he could. In the years since then, he has lived in Scotland, Germany, Turkey and Canada, and visited over 20 countries on dozens of separate trips. He has travelled on a sailboat from Ko Phi Phi to Pinang, shaped pottery in Cappadocia, hiked to the top of an active volcano in Bali and tagged puffi n chicks on the Gannet Islands while watching icebergs fl oat by. Instead of being taught about different cultures, languages, histories and nations, Ulrich knows that the longest- lasting and most profound lessons happen when learning becomes living. Now based in beautiful Victoria BC, when not working with Fly Robin Fly, Ulrich is busy exploring the local coastline and Beacon Hill Park with his two-year-old son.
